What I'm Reading This Month

Is it possible that the vocal half of one of the best comedy magic teams around today can write a crime novel about a New York City police diver who discovers the body of a former lover in the Hudson River? What if he also had to end every single paragraph with a pop culture reference? Finally, could he do all that while narrating the story from the point of view of a sock monkey named Dickie?
The answer is a resounding yes, as long as that person is Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller fame). I thought Sock was an interesting read and was pleasantly surprised to find the author’s curious choice of narrative style pulled me into the story. Plus it was amusing to see if I could identify the pop culture references without looking them up.
