Borderline Mensa Calendar Of Events

Borderline Mensa members the New China Buffet. If you've never been to a First Thursday Dinner or Third Wednesday Lunch this is what to expect. Dress is casual and there is no need to RSVP. You are more than welcome to bring your spouse, significant other, children, other family members, prospective Mensa members, or guest. When you arrive at the restaurant just ask for the Mensa group. Everyone gets separate checks and pays their own bill. Usually between 12 and 16 people attend the dinners. Sometimes we get a few more (we occasionally have 25 people show up) and sometimes we get a few less (smallest dinner I attended had 9 people there.) Slightly fewer people attend the lunches, usually between 8 and 12 people. The age of people who normally attend ranges from late 20's to mid 80's.

If it's your first time to any event be sure to mention it to whoever you're sitting by and they'll be sure to introduce you around and include you in the conversation and not just assume you're with someone else. We're a friendly group.

So, what do we do at these dinners? The two things Mensans are best at; we talk and we eat. Plan on at least two hours. Topics of conversation can very wildly, not only between events, but also between different sections of the table. In my experience with Borderline Mensa the conversations have always been pleasant and non-confrontational. Sometimes we discuss something really "brainy" but not always. But the discussions are always interesting and, for me anyway, it's been a pleasure to meet so many people I normally wouldn't have met outside of Mensa.
