VEGETABLE MONSTERS EVERYWHERE
By Jean Hodgson
February 2006

Monsters, monsters everywhere,
hanging from the trees,
monsters in the vegetable patch
underneath the peas.

Goblins hiding in the dirt
upon your neck they leap.
Up your pant legs
Brussel sprouts with tiny tongues they creep.

Potato monsters grab your toes
and yank you underground.
Watch out! For mushroom ghouls
crawl out from underneath that mound.

Avoid the vampire beets that suck,
and okra ogres that drool.
Beware medusa zucchini buds
for here the monsters rule.

Cauliflower heads with carrot tops
they creep into your dreams
and turn your brains to broccoli heads
chomped on by asparagus fiends.

Monsters, monsters everywhere!
You’ll never get away.
Plant monsters guard this vegetable patch
they feast on all meat prey.
