What I'm Reading This Month

What I'm reading right now is On Writing Well by Wm Zinsser. Not even half way through it and already I'm making what I sincerely trust are improvements. The most recent novel I've read was The Secret Life Of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It is engaging, a Southern story, possibly realistic in its cast of characters, certainly characteristic in its language and activities.
Another Southern book I recently read and HIGHLY recommend is Mama Makes Up Her Mind by Bailey White, a first grade teacher who lives so far south in Georgia that Tallahassee is her 'big town.' I laughed and guffawed while reading this collection of essays about her family and neighbors. If only all our neighborhoods were as peaceful and quirky.
